Treatment of solar lentigo with cryosurgery.
Sir, Melanocytes are the skin cells most vulnerable to cold; they can be destroyed by temperatures of ± 4 to ± 73C (1). Lower tissue temperatures or repeated freeze ± thaw applications lead to skin necrosis (2). Selective destruction of melanocytic lesions by skin freezing can therefore be achieved without epithelial loss or skin necrosis if certain technical requirements are taken into account...
متن کاملComparison of efficacy of cryotherapy versus trichloroacetic acid in the treatment of solar lentigo on hands

متن کاملEfficacy and Side Effects of Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA) Versus Cryotherapy in the Treatment of Solar Lentigo
Introduction: Solar lentigo is local and benign proliferation of melanocytes which is common in old individuals and creates a major concern considering beauty. Despite several and somehow expensive treatments such as laser and cryotherapy, chemical peeling with Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA) has recently attracted attentions considering its low cost and availability. متن کاملTreatment of lentigo maligna with topical imiquimod.
A published case report and anecdotal experience suggested that topical imiquimod is an effective treatment for stage 0 melanoma (lentigo maligna). To gauge the efficacy of this therapy, we undertook a trial of topical imiquimod in 30 subjects with histologically confirmed lentigo maligna. Thirty subjects with lentigo maligna were recruited for an open-labelled efficacy trial with daily topical...
متن کاملTreatment of lentigo maligna and lentigo maligna melanoma.
Thirty-eight cases of lentigo maligna and 22 cases of lentigo maligna melanoma, were reviewed in order to compare cure rates of various methods of treatment. Surgical excision resulted in the best cure rate (91%); destructive modalities were less successful (45%). All lesions treated with 5% 5-fluorouracil recurred.
